April 2025 - From the beginning of April, the Club will be running two Club Nights per week - on Monday and Thursday. Details of these can be seen on the "Who Are We" page. The subscription cost remains the same, regardless which night or nights you attend (i.e. $10 per night).

February 2025 - The 2025 season commenced on Monday 24 February 2025. The attendance cost is $10 per night. There are no other membership costs, but if you elect to play in specific tournaments during the year, there may be extras participation charges.

Annual General Meeting - The club's AGM took place on Monday 31 March 2025, where office bearers and other Committee members were appointed. Last year, the AGM approved our re-Incorporation of the Club to align with recent (2022) legislation, and these activities were completed on 12 May 2024.

Covid-19 Update: The Government's current stance for Covid, means unfettered play on Club-nights and all related Club and Regional competitions.

Junior Club - The club no longer runs a Junior Badminton programme, however, queries about this are being directed to the Wakanae Club, which runs a very active Junior weekly session on Tuesday evenings (see their link below).

December 2018 (Global and Association) - New rules for Serving came into force globally from this date, and have subsequently been accepted by Badminton New Zealand. Rule 9.1.6 the whole shuttle shall be below 1.15 metres from the surface of the court at the instant of being hit by the server’s racket. Check out the Video.

A Fad, or Here to Stay ? (Global) - AirBadminton (check this video) is an ambitious new development project, which has been designed to create the ability for people of all ages and skills, to play badminton on hard, grass and sand surfaces in parks, gardens, streets, playgrounds and beaches around the world. As an adventurous Club, we're keen to trial this new initiative, and report back on our experience. The specially designed shuttles required for serious outdoor play, have just become available for testing, which we'll do shortly. We'll provide an update on how this testing goes, just as soon as possible.

Waikanae Badminton Club Facebook Page - This link will take you to the public Facebook page of the Waikanae Badminton Club. However, the adult club session (which normally runs on Tuesday nights, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm), has currently been suspended. Watch this space for any further updates.

Waikanae Junior Club - The Junior Club at Waikanae caters for kids from 7-14 years, from the beginning of Term 2. It is held at the Waikanae Memorial Hall on Tuesdays, running from 5.30pm to 7.00pm.

Paraparaumu Badminton Club Facebook Site - This link will take you to the public Facebook page of the Paraparaumu Badminton Club. Although this has been inactive for some time, moves are afoot to bring it back to life. The site's intention, is to increase the level of Social dialogue between the Club and Club Members.

SportsJam Website - This link will take you to the SportsJam website. SportsJam are responsible for organising Youth and IntraSchool Badminton programmes and events, and are of potential interest to us - either in terms of participating in their activities within the region, and/or as a potential source for future Club members.

Other Badminton in the Area

There's badminton for anyone with free time on a Tuesday afternoon - including older members of the community, at the Waikanae Memorial Hall, from 1.00pm to 3.00pm on Tuesdays. Contact Alan Young for more details (E-Mail: "aayoung@xtra.co.nz").
Another informal badminton group meets from 11.00am to 1.00pm on Sundays - also at the Waikanae Memorial Hall. This is a mixed skill group. Contact Shally for more details (Mobile: 027-801-8107).
